Leprechaun (1993) IMDB rating: 4.20 Plot: The movie that started it all. Warwick Davis from Willow plays a mean Leprechaun that doesn’t like to play by the rules, and will kill anyone who goes near his gold. A somewhat delusional man named Dan O’Grady brings home the gold from Ireland after he caught the leprechaun, only Leprechaun had followed him and wreaks havoc until Dan locks him in a crate and attempts to burn him, but has a stroke. 10 years later, two people buy the O’Grady’s old house, (they are J.D. and his spoiled daughter Tory), not knowing what is locked in a crate in the basement. Also there are three painters: Nathan, his brother Alex, and Alex’s dim friend Ozzie. That afternoon Ozzie and Alex find the Leprechaun’s gold, and Ozzie accidentally releases Leprechaun from his crate and he goes on a killing spree and terrorizes the four friends, trying to get his missing gold coin back. Finally they learn the only way to destroy it is to go find Dan O’Grady, thinking he may know a way. They find him at a rest home, he tells them a four leaf clover is the only way. So now Tory and her friends must find a four leaf clover in a big clover patch before Leprechaun finds them!

The people you’re referring to aren’t genuinely agnostic – they probably don’t understand what it really means, and your question would just confuse them further.

You could, if were so inclined, make a case for everyone who believed it possible to know something absolutely to have failed to understand the nature of knowledge. However, given that "agnostic" refers specifically to metaphysical claims, you’d have ventured beyond the bounds of discussing agnosticism and just be trying to ram some bizarre extreme epistemology down people’s necks.

You could do it, but you’d look like an idiot though.

Has my rat had a stroke?
She’s always been very active in her cage, running from each of the three floors, through and along tunnels and ladders, scampering up and down the metal sides of the cage itself and falling about seemingly without a problem, infact seemingly loving it as she did it so often!! The other rat we had with her died 6 months ago and there has never been a distinct change in her behaviour since, she has always acted the same way. My current rat toppled from one tier to the next on many an occassion, even on a daily basis with her previous cage partner. If she did fall from one tier to the next she’d stop for a second, look around and then carry on. Then, yesterday evening I watched her run about for a couple of hours and then fall to the bottom of the cage from the first tier and stop all together.

She lay there for 5 minutes, prone with nothing happening, when she did move it was lethargic and she only used her front legs, her back legs would not move at all and felt cold to touch. For the last 24 hours all she has done is lay in her house and bury herself in her bedding, will not respond to my contact, has only fed a small drop of water and tiny morsel of food. She has only in the last 5 minutes as I type this started poking her head out of her house and walk almost normally, only her hind left leg dragging. As I approach her though she turns around and heads back in, curls up and burys herself back down.

She does seem to be getting better (as the last few hours have shown), is my rat however facing her final moments or do any rat owners think they can tell me what may well be happening??

Sorry for the long details but I thought I oughta include as much as I could to get a decent answer.

I had a similar problem with my rat pinky. She suddenly kept falling and dragging her back legs when she used to be very agile. She also developed breathing problems which included a rattling sound as she breathed out and a brownish discharge from her nose. Then one day after being very reserved, she came up to the cage side and stretched up revealing a growth on her side which turned out to be cancerous.
I don’t want to upset you but this all happened within a couple of days and i ended up having her put to sleep.
I would take your rat immediately to see an exotic/small pet specialist, especially with you mentioning that her back legs were cold and she isn’t feeding well.
My vet recommended i spoon fed pinky with baby puree which is easy to eat and full of goodness to perk her up. Also it will get some form of liquid in her to keep her strength up.

It is possible that your rat had a stroke, but it is also possible that she just injured herself falling. How high is the first tier to the bottom of the cage? How old is she? It does not sound like she is doing very well and she might "facing her final moments." But rats are very resiliant creatures and she may live much longer without the use of her hind leg/legs. I had a rat that had a stroke and was unable to use his hind legs and he did just fine for several months before finally dying. He wasn’t able to clean himself anymore however so I had to wash him on a regular basis, but I don’t think his quality of life was that bad. I moved him to a one level cage where he could get to his water/food easier. I would say that if you don’t see a full improvement in the next couple of hours you should take her into the vet and get her checked out. It’s better safe than sorry!

Weekend leave during Tech School?
I will be in Tech School for Independence Day (which falls on a Sunday). It is possible for me to go home for that weekend during tech school? I live in NJ, but My Tech School will be in Texas near Lackland.

Nope, you cannot take leave during Tech School, except emergency leave.

And there are distance restrictions on how far you are allowed to travel from the base on weekends.

Tech School distance restrictions are alot tighter than they are after you get to your first duty station.

Plus, why would you want to spend the money to fly all that way, for just a weekend ?

You might as well get used to not going home for most holidays.

While in Technical training you will be in one of a few phases. Each phase will give you different privelages such as going off base etc. No phase will allow you to leave the local area (especially N.J.) The only time you can leave is for emergency leave with a valid red cross message.

After tech school, you can do HRAP.

A little advice for the holidays please.?
I’ve been with a man for 2 years that was previously married with 2 kids. His parents are against meeting me because they are old fashioned (thats what he says), and believe that he should still be married for the kids. He told his mother before Thanksgiving that he wasn’t coming for dinner if I wasn’t invited. Thanksgiving day came and we ended up having dinner over my family’s house. He called his parents to wish they a Happy Thanksgiving but didn’t answer his call. Finally 3 weeks later, his mother called to say how disappointed and upset she was that he didn’t show up. She said that his father was pissed, and his x-wife was there with the kids crying cause daddy didn’t show up. Now his ex knows that I am not welcomed to his parents, so they ask her to come for functions and she accepts. Christmas is coming and his mother told him that I was still not invited. So how would you handle Christmas Eve and Christmas Day? We were invited to my uncle’s house for dinner on Christmas Eve, I told my boyfriend and he just said ok. I haven’t cleared up the meaning of that answer, whether he is coming with me or not. I want to believe that he is going to keep his stand and continue to stick up for our relationship. How should I feel if he does go without me? And as far as Christmas day, we eat dinner here at our house, but he always wants to go down to his ex’s house and watch the kids open gifts in the morning. I have a daughter from a previous relationship and this year she will be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with us. So I want us to be together while opening gifts. When do I just tell him to go and not worry about me and my daughter? And when do I tell him to just go be with his parents, ex, and kids for holidays??

I think that its been long enough that you guys need to start establishing what your doing… is it him and his, you and yours… or us and ours….. and then go from there. As for his family… I can see both sides of the story… and he as the son needs to let his parents know… hey this is how its been for the last 2 yrs.. and this is how its gonna be for the next 50 yrs…. so we need to accept it.. or we will do our own things on the holidays…

If your going to continue to be a couple… there needs to be a united front….Good luck!

Why do we have such a problem with Atheists, when we "Christians" have caused half of the problem?
I come across so many posts of Christians posting "Why are Atheists so stupid?" and vice versa. Both have this attitude. Christians, I am one of you but stuff like THIS is the reason we are hated! Well, part of the reason. We will be hated anyways because of who we are, regardless. But stuff like this doesn’t help us out any! I do not agree with Atheists, but I don’t HATE them. I think they post some pretty ridiculous, non-relevant answers most days, but oh well. I used to wonder why atheists hate us so much, I bet stuff like this is most of the reason why. So I no longer ask that question, seems we’ve brought it on ourselves. We are supposed to LOVE. We are not perfect, we don’t claim to be but we still have to love everyone, regardless of who they are. I love gay people, even though I don’t agree with their lifestyle. They are people, they have feelings, we’re still supposed to love them. Same with Atheists, Wiccans, ANYONE. I hate that this is very possibly the reason so many people scoff at Christianity. I am to blame just as bad as everyone else, this needs to stop! God didn’t tell us to criticize. There is nothing wrong with pointing out the obvious and witnessing, but condemning and other junk needs to stop. Jesus pointed out to the Samaritan woman at the well (in the book of John) that she had had 5 husbands, and that the man she lived with wasn’t her husband. He didn’t condemn her. He was kind to her and offered her eternal life. We don’t need people having false assumptions about God and Christianity. No wonder so many people are still lost! Just something to think about, something I’ve wondered.

-I hate that so many unbelievers have dealt with stuff like this. Trust me, there are people out there who follow God and earnestly try to live up to His standards, to love others. They are definitely better than I, i can’t claim that for myself. But not all Christians are the way you think they are, based on some that you have met. Please do not make your choice about us based on that.
So why are we so confused, why are we scratching our heads as to WHY we’re being called "hypocrites"?
eelfins, in a way you’re right. We need to get the truth out to Atheists and others, and they will hate to hear it. They will hate us for it. But we don’t have to reciprocate that attitude. We are supposed to be above that, on a more mature, "godly" level. That’s all I’m saying.

I am that cat} Jesus said in His Word that His followers would be hated, just as He was. He was scoffed at, and treated terribly as he was imprisoned and scourged, he was spit on, etc. All because He told people He was the Son of God. He warned us that we would be hated. I think this is because we have morals. We believe His Word, how it says not to sleep with someone you’re not married to, not to sleep with the same sex as you are, etc. People hate that we believe that, and encourage them to do likewise. For their own sake-that they will be saved and not condemned. People don’t want to hear it, that the way they are living is wrong. And because people think that we believe we are better than others. Another assumption. We are God’s people but we are not better than everyone else. We mess up too. You cannot argue that we are hated. And I agree with you, I am sure that Atheists (this is all too obvious) and other religions are hated. But we were told that we would be hated, and we are.

Thank you so much for saying this. We Christians are supposed to fight things peacefully. That is what Martin Luther King did and God helped the black nation. He was a priest who promoted peaceful protest, he was reminding angry blacks to remain calm and pray, and look it worked! Why didn’t Jesus kill everyone who tried to crucify him? Instead he forgave them, now if Christians are supposed to be like Jesus then why say things like "You stupid atheist just all shut up"? By doing this we are being perhaps even worse.

When Jesus was preaching he was constantly making reference to the fact that the Rabbis were being hypocrites, why was this so stressed? Because he knew that one day this would be his follower’s greatest flaw.
